Teaching Strategies: Audio-visual presentations, assignments and class discussions will be utilized.

Attendance/Discussion Board:

Participation through discussion boards and groups is an indispensable part of the online educational process and therefore attendance is mandatory. In addition to the obvious required reading and studying of slide material, participation in the discussion room is mandatory. Each student will be required to post two questions/thoughts and two responses/discussion per week. I am adamant on this issue. You must participate. If you do not meet the guidelines mentioned above you will be penalized in regards to your grade. Please keep in mind that your responses should reflect thoughts and ideas you have concerning a topic. Responses such as “Yes, you are right”, does not qualify for a post. The post must be of some value and not just a few words. Also, your posts cannot be all made in one day. This has been a problem in the past and is no longer being allowed. Posting all in one day is not the best way to learn. If you do post all in one day, you will be penalized. If you get behind the class schedule you need to contact me immediately. Do not wait for a few days prior to a test and then say you have been sick and are not ready to take the examination. This will not be acceptable. In addition we will follow the universities attendance and discipline policies, so please be familiar with them.

There will be a total of two examinations with each having an equal weight of 30% of the total grade (60% for both tests). The final examination is not cumulative. Class discussion (from the posts) will be 20% of the total grade while class assignments will constitute the final 20% of the total grade. Please review what a post should be under the attendance section.

Make-Up Examinations:

Only one make-up examination is allowed. If you are unable to take an examination at the scheduled time, you must take the examination within one week of missing it. If the student fails to take the make-up exam at the time listed above; the grade will automatically become a zero. The Student must contact me immediately if there is any problem with taking the examination at the scheduled time. An acceptable excuse for illness, entitling a student to a make-up examination, requires a legitimate detailed doctor's note (with diagnosis) by an U.S. licensed physician.

Grading Scale: As per the University of Bridgeport catalog
