IDEAL Student Resources

USING THE UNIVERSITY LIBRARY
The University libraries are the center of research, learning, and instruction outside the classroom, and are an integral part of the academic experience of each student. The UB Library supports student/faculty research with over 266,800 volumes of classified books and bound journals/indexes and over 1,082,000 microforms. It subscribes to more than 1,200 periodicals and other serials in print and over 6,000 full texts online, and owns approximately 8,500 electronic books (eBooks).

The Library's home page can be accessed at http://www.bridgeport.edu/Library. In addition to the usual links providing access to the library's online catalog (UBCAT), electronic databases and services, etc., there is a link to individual subject web pages designed by subject librarians to provide quick access to resources of special value to students in the various majors. Internet accessible databases or services include Lexis/Nexis Academic Universe, FirstSearch, EBSCO's Academic Search Elite, MANTIS, the Cochrane Library PubMed, ERIC, Alt-HealthWatch, Allied and Alternative Medicine (AMED), EiCompendex, and the reQuest Connecticut database. Through its membership in the Connecticut Library Network, patrons have access to the many databases and full text resources provided by the Connecticut Digital Library (iCONN).

In order to access the Library online databases, you need to obtain a UBNet account. To be eligible for a new UBNet account, you must be a registered Full/Part time student.
