Welcome!

Welcome to the opportunity to improve your career potential.
Welcome to UB, one of the best kept secrets on the Continental U.S.A., until now!

Developing Advanced Skills

Q: I'm an international student. May I still participate in the certificate program?

A: No, but you may apply to the MBA program. International students need to be in a degree-granting program in order to be granted a student visa. The certificate program is not a degree program.

Q: I'm not ready to study for my MBA. Can I still take some courses that will be counted later?

A: Yes. You could take one of our Certificate Programs.

A Certificate Program is a path of study that gives the student advanced skills in a chosen field without completing the entire MBA Program. Upon completion the student receives a certificate much like a diploma, capable of being framed. Certificate Programs are much like concentrations, except that certificates are earned before the MBA and concentrations are earned near the end of the MBA. Basically you must take 4 advanced courses in the subject area, after satisfying the core course(s) or prerequisite(s) for that discipline. Then if you decide later to earn your MBA we will apply the core course(s) and all the advanced courses that are required to earn the MBA in General Administration, assuming your grades in each course are "B" or higher.

We offer certificates in the following areas: Accounting; Bio-Technology Management; Corporate, Government & Information Security & Continuity; e-Commerce; Entrepreneurship; Environmental & Energy Management; Fashion Merchandising; Finance; Foundation of Doing Business in China; Foundation of Doing Business in India; Global Marketing; Global Program & Project Management; Health Care Management & Administration; Human Resources Management; Information Technology Management; Intellectual Property Management; Management and Operations; Manufacturing Management; New Product Development & Management; Service Management & Engineering; Strategic Sourcing / Outsourcing; and Supply Chain Management. Those who wish to earn a certificate must successfully complete all chosen courses with a final GPA average of 3.0 (‘B’ average) or higher. The minimum acceptable grade in any particular course without repeat is "C." Each concentration course must be passed with a minimum grade of "B."

Applicants who have previously completed the core course(s) or prerequisite(s) for the chosen certificate and received a grade of "B" or higher will be waived from taking the course(s).

Q: What is the procedure to apply to earn a certificate from the UB MBA Program?

A: Fill out an online application or download one and fill it out. Because you will be participating in classes along side MBA students, the application requirements for the certificate program are identical to the regular MBA admissions requirements.
