Part-Time and Adjunct Faculty to Teach Psychology and Counseling Courses

Teach graduate courses in counseling and undergraduate courses in Psychology including Social, Biological and Cognitive and courses within Counseling. School of Business

Associate Professor of Marketing in the School of Business for Spring 2008
Teach a variety of Marketing, International Market Management, Customer Relationship Management, Database marketing, e-Marketing, Advertising and Merchandising and Market Research courses in the MBA and Undergraduate Programs. Act as an advisor to those students seeking careers in Marketing, Merchandising or Advertising. Such other duties as are subsequently agreed upon. Position Requirements: Earned Ph.D. or equivalent in Marketing or related discipline, at least five years of teaching related subjects at an accredited School of Business; and history of scholarly research and publications.

College of Chiropractic

Temporary Full-time or Part-time Visiting Faculty position for the spring 2008

The University of Bridgeport Doctor of Chiropractic degree program currently has a Temporary Full-time or Part-time Visiting Faculty position for the spring 2008 term to instruct lectures/labs in the area of basic sciences. Course topics include: Cellular physiology and microscopic anatomy (histology) of the connective, neural and muscular tissues, immune and endocrine tissues. Instruct lectures and labs for Systems Physiology course. Lab is a case based class. Prepare syllabus, course materials, and examinations. Submit final grades. Have office hours to meet with students.

Skills Required:

At least 3 years of teaching experience preferably in a graduate or health sciences program. Masters or Ph.D. (Ph.D. preferred) in biological sciences required. Correlate clinical highlights of the lecture material presented. Utilization of cases/problem based teaching.

All candidates should demonstrate a strong commitment and record to teaching and student advising. This is a temporary position for the spring 2008 term. Full-time visiting faculty or part-time status. Some course materials are available. There are three separate courses to be instructed.

School of Education and Human Resources

Assistant/Associate Professor in Educational Leadership
The primary responsibility is teaching and advising students in the doctoral and 6th year administrative programs, including the supervision of administrative interns. Applicants are expected to participate in program assessment and evaluation and to contribute to program development. The successful applicant will be an advisor to graduate students, a scholar in the area of educational leadership, serve on and chair doctoral committees, provide service to the university, willingly serve on committees and commissions at the state level and participate in outreach to local public schools.

Qualifications: An earned doctorate is required with specialization in educational leadership and educational administration at the school level. Experience as a district level administrator is desirable but is not a requirement for this tenure track position. Applicants must be able to provide leadership to candidates seeking certification in school administration. Similarly, applicants must be able to guide candidates through the dissertation phase of the doctoral program. Applicants must be able to provide instruction in key content areas of educational administration. An established identity with various state and professional organizations is preferred. Knowledge of state and national standards for school leaders, certification requirements, governance, educational policy and law, and an understanding of research that supports school improvement are essential.

School of Engineering

Technology Management (Chair)
An earned doctorate or relevant graduate degree with an extensive successful experience in the technology sector of the business community. Record of leadership and achievement in developing substantial technology-based organizations. Demonstrate an entrepreneurial spirit with documented outcomes in high tech business development, with a focus on growing revenues and developing new programs and ventures. Responsible for developing an extensive, active network of high-level contacts in high tech industries and student recruitment for the program. Record of successful and significant fund raising activities and securing research grants and foundation support. The candidate should possess a strong interest in teaching and graduate courses in technology management.

Computer Science
Ph.D. in computer science, computer engineering, or related field is required. Possess a strong interest in teaching undergraduate and graduate courses. Ability to teach lab-based courses is required. Have experience in some of the following areas: wireless design, programming languages, distributed computing, VLSI, communications, Image Processing, Digital Design, Digital and Analog Controls, Medical Electronics, biomedical engineering, biometrics, computer architecture, software engineering, data base design, algorithms, e-commerce, data mining, artificial intelligence and data structures. Have a record of securing research grants and scholarly publications.

Mechanical Engineering
Ph.D. in Engineering is required. Possess a strong interest in teaching undergraduate and graduate courses. Have a record of securing research grants and scholarly publications. Ability to teach lab-based courses is required. Industry experience preferred. Applicants sought in Computational Fluid Mechanics, Finite Element Analysis, Heat Transfer, Vibrations, Computer-Aided Design, Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM), Ergonomics, Robotics, Computer Numerically Controlled Devices, Mills and Machines, Automation and Control, and Rapid Prototyping for Manufacturing and Reverse Engineering, Material Science and Thermo-Fluid Dynamics.

Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering and Computer Science
The School of Engineering of the University of Bridgeport is seeking part-time/adjunct faculty to teach a wide variety of graduate and undergraduate courses in Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering and Computer Science for Fall 2007. Salary is competitive and schedules flexible. Advanced degrees and teaching experience in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related area are essential. Computer Science
The fast-growing department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Bridgeport invites applications for full time tenure-track positions at the Assistant/Associate Professor levels. Candidates for tenure-track positions must have a Ph.D. in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field. A strong interest in teaching undergraduate and graduate courses and an excellent research record are required. The ability to teach lab-based courses is also required. Applicants are sought in the areas of Medical Electronics, Biomedical Engineering, Biometrics, Bio-Informatics, Wireless Design, Distributed Computing, Computer Architecture, Data Base Design, Algorithms, e-commerce, Data Mining and Artificial Intelligence.

Electrical Engineering
The Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of Bridgeport is searching for two tenure track Assistant Professors. Qualifications include an earned doctorate in Electrical Engineering or equivalent. All disciplines are encouraged to apply, but preference will be given (i) to those in the area of sensors: biological and chemical, including design and theoretical modeling of semiconductor sensors and thin films and (ii) to those involved with SOC (systems on a chip) design, digital/analog VLSI design and testing, and VLSI design automation. Other areas of engineering will be considered, including RFIC design, A/D wireless communications, Biomedical Engineering, and Medical Electronics. The successful candidate is expected to excel in teaching undergraduate and graduate students in the classroom and in the lab. A strong publication/research record is required as well.

Mechanical Engineering

A Ph.D. in mechanical engineering or a related field is required. A strong interest in teaching graduate courses and an excellent record of research activities are required. Preference will be given to applicants in the areas of: Nanoscience and nanotechnology (e.g. nano-composites, nano-biotechnology, computational nanomechanics, nanomaterial synthesis, nanoscale characterization, etc.) and other advanced materials. Energy-saving systems: with emphasis on the applications of thermal and fluid science to energy system or emerging technologies (including the energy-saving applications to HVAC system, air or water delivery pipeline design, fuel cell, etc.).

Fones School of Dental Hygiene

Assistant Professor Clinical Faculty Positions
The Fones School of Dental Hygiene has available full time clinical faculty positions. Teaching Responsibilities include: clinical instruction for Associate and Bachelor Degree Dental Hygiene students. Required Qualifications include: must be a Registered Dental Hygienist with a Bachelor’s Degree in Dental Hygiene or an appropriate related field; minimum 2 years clinical teaching required, minimum 3 years clinical experience in dental hygiene; current CPR certification; and eligibility for Connecticut State Licensure. Clinical Assistant Professor
This is a full-time position in the Fones School of Dental Hygiene (32 hours per week). Duties include: Work 4 days in senior dental hygiene clinic instructing senior dental hygiene students. Clinical advising and committee work required. Skills Required: Registered dental hygienist; CT state licensed or eligible for CT state licensure; Minimum of Bachelors Degree in Dental Hygiene or related field; Minimum of two years clinical teaching experience and 5 years dental hygiene experience; Certified in CPR.

Clinical Assistant Professor
This is a full-time position in the Fones School of Dental Hygiene (38 hours). Duties: Work 2 days in the freshman clinic; 2.5 days in senior clinic. Clinical instruction required with basic instrumentation to total patient care. Clinical advising of students and committee involvement. Skills Required: Registered dental hygienist; CT state licensed or eligible for CT state licensure; Minimum of Bachelors Degree in Dental Hygiene or related field; Minimum of two years clinical teaching experience and 5 years dental hygiene experience; Certified in CPR.

International College

Criminal Justice
The University's International College is seeking an Assistant/Associate Professor of Criminal Justice to teach a wide variety of introductory and advanced undergraduate courses in homeland security, crime and society, terrorism, criminal justice and criminology. An earned Ph.D. in Homeland Security, Criminal Justice or a closely related field, as well as a record of university teaching, and work experience in the area of criminal justice, international security, or law enforcement are required of the applicants. The appointee will play a leadership role in designing a criminal justice major for the University over the next one to two years.

World Religions
The University's International College is seeking a visiting assistant professor of world religions to serve a one-year appointment. The position also requires substantial work on program development. The appointee will teach a wide variety of undergraduate world religions courses including Comparative Religious Ethics, Religion and Society, Western religions including Islam, and the Sociology of Religion. A Ph.D. in religious studies and a record of university teaching are preferred. Candidates with an M.A. or A.B.D. will be considered.

Assistant/Associate Professor of International Political Economy
The University of Bridgeport’s International College is seeking a full-time faculty member to teach in its undergraduate program in International Political Economy & Diplomacy and in its new graduate program in Global Development & Peace. This tenure track position requires a Ph.D. in International Political Economy, International Relations or a closely related discipline as well as expertise in Northeast Asia and China where graduate students are expected to intern and do graduate research. The ideal candidate will have spoken and written proficiency in Mandarin. Research interests are desirable in one of the following areas: Asia Pacific Studies, Peace and Security Studies or Development studies. In addition to introductory political science courses, this candidate chosen will teach graduate and undergraduate courses in International Political Economy, World Politics, the Political Economy of East Asia, the Political Economy of China, and in the Political Economy of Development.
