Bachelor of Arts Degree in Mathematics

Mathematics programs at the University of Bridgeport are designed to prepare the student for graduate work in applied mathematics and allied areas, industrial emplyment and government employment as well as for careers in actuarial science and the quantitative areas of the biological and social sciences.

Bachelor of Arts requires a total of 36 semester hours in mathematics (see list of courses), and at least nine additional semester hours from mathematics or related area courses numbered 300 or above. All degree programs in mathematics require Computer Science 101 and 102.

Students may take additional mathematics electives; those who intend to go to graduate school are advised to obtain competence in foreign language, and to elect one or more of those 400 level courses which are open to undergraduates and described in the graduate catalog. A total of 120 semester hours is required for graduation.

For any of these major or minor degrees, the student is expected to work out a meaningful program with his/her advisor.
