CPT / OPT

The Career Services Center accepts applications from International Students for Curricular Practical Training (CPT) and Optional Practical Training (OPT) authorizations.

Please read the instructions for this application. You must complete this application and have your NEW I-20 before you can begin working.
**It takes at least 24 hours to process a CPT.

**You MUST make an appointment to have your OPT processed. Please call 203.576.4466 to schedule an appointment

There are NO same day appointments, please call in advance.

Read the related handout carefully before applying. The application form must be complete and attached to all other necessary documents and supplementary forms before submission. If your application is not complete when you arrive for your appointment, you will be asked to reschedule your appointment and come back at a later date.
 

According to new Department of Homeland Security Regulations, the timeframe to apply for OPT has changed. You can now apply starting

90 days before you graduate and the last day to apply is 60 days after you graduate.
The first day to apply for OPT if you are graduating in December, 2008 is September 12th.
