Typing in Other Languages
*In order to install Asian languages you will need your original Windows XP install cd.
Enabling most languages:
- Click on the Start button
- Click on the Control Panel
- Double click the Regional and Language Settings
- This will open a new window with three tabs. Click on the tab that says Languages.
- Click the Details button (if you are installing an East Asian or right-to-left language, see below).
- Click the Add button on the right side of the window.
- Select your language from the Input Language dropdown menu.
- Make sure that they Keyboard layout/IME box is checked.
- Click OK.
- Under Preferences, click the Language Bar option.
- Make sure that the Show the Language bar on the desktop and the Show additional Language bar icons in the taskbar boxes are checked.
- Click Apply.
- Click OK.
- In your taskbar along the bottom of your screen, you should see a new small icon that says EN in white letters.
- Click on the icon and select the language you would like to type in.
To install East Asian or right-to-left languages:
- Check the box for the option you prefer under Supplemental Language Support
- Click OK to the pop up window
- Click OK in the Regional and Language window.
