Welcome Parents!
Sending your son or daughter off to school for the first time can be an emotionally difficult experience for parents. Concerns about his or her safety and well being are common place. Rest assured, students have many supports (from both Student Services and Academics) in place on campus to help them along the way. Every student is given many options for assistance when faced with difficulties. Counseling Services (CS) is one of these options.
Please call Counseling Services at (203) 576-4454 if you would like to discuss any mental health related concerns you might have regarding your son or daughter. It is important to recognize that CS staff will be unable to disclose any private information we have about a specific student due to our Confidentiality practices and CT Privacy Laws. However, as parents you are not prohibited from sharing information with our professional staff if you have a concern. We routinely reach out to students after parents contact us. We recommend that parents also call their son or daughter directly to address any concerns they might have. This may include asking your son or daughter to check in with CS.
If you have immediate concerns after office hours, please call campus security at (203) 576-4911 and a counselor on call will be notified.
Parents are also welcome to the comprehensive information contained in our WebPages on mental health including (but not limited to) anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship issues. Please see the mental health resources page.
