Computer Support for Students at UB - FAQ
What Operating Systems are supported?
Support is provided for Windows XP.
What internet browsers are supported?
The university currently supports IE (Internet Explorer) 6 and 7.
What IT student support does the university provide?
The Information Technology Department at the University of Bridgeport provides computer related assistance to students through a group of student IT monitors. These monitors are trained in university supported operating systems, browsers, as well as tasks and operations specific to their location on the university campus.
An IT monitor WILL:
walk you through online/print instructions for IT related questions
troubleshoot hardware issues in university-owned computer equipment
assist with operations specific to their location (i.e. printing/photocopying)
An IT monitor will NOT*:
attempt to reconfigure any settings within a student’s personal laptop
add or remove any hardware or software from a student’s personal computer
‘fix’ your computer (perform maintenance/adjustments/run diagnostics)
*It is the University’s policy to not troubleshoot specific software, hardware or configuration issues within a student’s personal computer, due to the fact that it is the student’s personal property and we are not liable for any potential damages that may result from these actions. For assistance with this type of troubleshooting/computer repair, please refer to the Where can I go for further assistance with my computer? FAQ.
Where can I find IT monitors?
There are 2 areas on campus where IT monitors will be available during the Fall and Spring Semesters:
- Arnold Bernhard Center (ABC) Building, 6th Floor - support for Design/Music students only.
- Wahlstrom Library
