WHO

• Students who have been conditionally accepted into a UB undergraduate or graduate program for the Fall semester
• Students who have a TOEFL score of at least 450/133/45(paper/computer/internet based) or IELTS of at least 5.5.
• Students who need an English immersion experience before starting college or graduate school
• Students who want a supportive introduction to American higher education

WHERE

• English Language Institute, UB’s intensive English program preparing international students for university work in English. 

WHAT

• Join the top two levels of the ELI program, focusing on oral presentations & academic writing
• Meetings with academic advisors during the summer to make connections, learn about the major, & plan fall classes

WHEN

• Early May through to late August, finishing just in time for Fall Orientation (Check ELI Application Form for session dates)

• Guaranteed ELI placement & length of ESL studies
• Convenient planning--no guessing about how long it will take to finish ELI
• Time to get comfortable in the United States and the American educational environment before starting degree courses

HOW

• Submit your completed International Application and ELI Application forms together
• Check Summer Session 1 on the ELI application form
• Write “Bridge to College English” on the ELI application above your name
